Please complete a guest registration form upon arrival at May Cottage. Please be assured that your personal information remains secure and at no point will we give your details to any third party, except for the purpose of the Governments Covid 19 track and trace system.
ACCESS TO HOUSE & KEYS
Your room has a set of keys (hanging on the back of the door) for your bedroom and front door. Please keep these safe and take them with you as the front door is on a latch and will lock behind you.
You are welcome to come and go as you please, but please be quiet between the hours of 11:00 pm and 8:00 am. Note that the lights in the halls and landing are on sensors so will come on as you move through the house
FIRST AID KIT
As you enter the dining room, the first aid kit is situated in the right-hand drawer of the dresser straight ahead of you. Please tell us if you have had to use this.
DUVETS, PILLOWS & SHEET CHANGES
Due to a number of our guests suffering from allergies, all our beds are made up with two synthetic pillows and synthetic quilts.
Please ask if you would like further pillows or would prefer feather pillows.
As part of our quality grading, we will change your bedding every four days during your stay. But if it is absolutely necessary, we will change it more frequently.
TOWELS
As part of our quality grading, we will change your towels every three days during your stay. But if it is absolutely necessary, we will change them more frequently.
IN ROOM BEVERAGE TRAYS
Complimentary hot drinks trays are in your room and if you need more please ask.
TELEVISIONS
Television remotes are in each room and the televisions offer a selection of digital and radio channels. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact us.
BEDROOM CLEANING
Servicing of your room will only happen for stays of 4 nights or more. If you need something or there is an issue with the room, please ask.
IRONING
Please ask if you need an iron and ironing board.
PROPERTY LEFT BEHIND
If guest property is found after departure, we will endeavour to contact you. If you would like your items returning, we are happy to send them back to you. We simply ask for the postage. Unclaimed items will be given to the charity shop after 4 weeks.
NOISE
While every effort has been made to reduce the impact of noise travelling between rooms, this is an old Victorian house. As guests come to relax at May Cottage, we respectively request that you do not play music or use the television on a high volume especially after 10.00pm.
HEATING and HOT WATER
Radiators and towel rails are all thermostatically controlled. Please adjust according to your temperature preferences. The temperature setting for the heating is 21oC so if you need heating in summer, please let us know.
Please ask for a fan if you need one in hot weather.
We have mobile radiators if you need additional heating.
The hot water is on a timer, so if you have an issue please let us know and we will switch it on again.
LIGHTS & ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
All the lights in the corridors at May Cottage are automatic so will come on as you walk past. Most of the lights in guest bedrooms are energy saving. Even though this is the case, please do turn your lights out when you are not in the room to help conserve energy. If using chargers and entertainment equipment, please turn these off when not in use to avoid using unnecessary electricity.
WALKING & CYCLING
Whilst out for the day there is a chance you could get wet and muddy as we occasionally get a bit of rain in the Lake District to keep our meres, tarns and lakes full 😉.
We have an area in our private accommodation to dry your walking / cycling gear so please feel free to hand over your soggy belongings so we can dry them ready for the next adventure. Boots should be kept in the hallway on the mat provided.
Storage is available for bicycles in shed upon request.
There is a boot scraper by the front door. An outside tap is underneath the kitchen window which can be used to wash muddy boots and bicycles. Please ask and we will show you where the tap is.
