RAIL: The main West Coast Line is to Oxenholme, changing trains to travel 10mls to Windermere, our nearest station.
BUS/COACH: A National Express coach stop is at Windermere station.
AIRPORTS: Manchester 90mls, Leeds Bradford 75mls, & Newcastle 120mls.
TAXI: Ranks are at the bus/train station; We may be able to “meet & greet”, with prior arrangement.
ROAD: (Sat Nav’s – LA23 3EW - Please enter route “via” Windermere to avoid the winding B5284.)
From Scotland and the North East, leave the M6 at Junction 40 and take the A66 towards Keswick. Take either the A592 via Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass to Windermere or continue along the A66 to Threlkeld, turn left through St Johns in the Vale to Windermere via A591 Grasmere & Ambleside. At the junction of the A591 & A592 head to Windermere. At the Nat West Bank junction, turn left into Windermere village passing the Tourist Information Cr on the left, and follow the road down through the village.*
Or from the South East, Leave the M6 at junction 36, then merge onto the A590 (Signposted, Windermere, Kendal, A591) Continue onto the A591 and follow A590/A591 towards Windermere. After passing Kendal, and crossing straight across the large roundabout, keep going 8 miles to Windermere. Just after the Windermere Hotel, take the left turn down into, and through the village.*
*Then after the traffic lights, follow the one-way system; Pass the Police Station you will soon enter Bowness with shops on both sides. At the bottom of the hill, cross the mini roundabout, taking the left towards the Lake, but immediately turn first left before "Rumours Restaurant" up into Kendal Rd. May Cottage is 800yds further on, on right-hand side. We are between "The Belsfield Hotel" & "The Burnside Hotel".
